We had the pleasure of hosting my step-dad David for a visit this last Thursday through Sunday, and above you will see some of our adventures at the Clark County Fair. The pictures suck because I took them with my phone. I'm not ready to lug a 20 pound child and a 20 pound camera around ten acres just yet. Each one of us had a blast at the fair, highlights of which included a dock dogs performance, lots of rides for Madison and Papa, more than generous helpings of fair food, and the four stuffed animal prizes Madison won playing games. We were there from 10am to after 3 pm, which is so far the longest stretch of time Audrey has been out-and-about doing one activity. She was great the entire time. About a third of the time I carried her, another third she spent with Daddy and the remaining was in her stroller either napping or just soaking in the sights. If only she enjoyed people watching as much as me....she would have been entertained in her stroller all day! A fair is always a great place to marvel at our country's, uh, diversity. I'd also like to add David's odd obsession with crappy popcorn in here too. Everytime we turned a corner he had to buy a bag of it and by the end of the day when he finally found a good kettle corn stand, he'd had enough. Blech!
In addition to the fair, Papa got to attend one of Madison's soccer games while he was here, hung out around the house with us, spent an afternoon poolside while Maddy showed off her swimming skills, and took on a monster of a breakfast challenge with Jim. In all actuality, there was no challenge - just a hole in the wall joint with artery clogging helpings of all American breakfast favorites. Of course, I took a picture:
