Earlier this month, Madison performed in her very first piano recital. The little concert hall was packed full of people, and perhaps our family had something to do with that....I believe Madison had eight people in attendance to hear her play. She did a fantastic job with both of her pieces and the family stuck around that evening for a casual but fun dinner at our house.
One of Audrey's new favorite activities is to help unload the dishwasher. Now that she's entirely mobile, she makes a dash for the dishwasher anytime she hears it open. It's now my challenge to quickly remove all potentially hazardous or breakable items before she gets to it. Even then I have to watch her closely because she tends to crawl inside the dishwasher as well. I encourage her to help when things are clean and I can provide enough plastics on the bottom to keep her entertained....otherwise she tries clammoring in there when the dishes are dirty. Yuck!
In other news, Audrey had her 1 year checkup at Dr. Speaker's office and as we can all plainly see, she is a hearty, robust, healthy child. She continues to grow "off the chart" ... although I didn't get copies of the charts this time to prove it. Nuts. Her height has continued to skyrocket while her weight is beginning to curve towards a plateau. We're pleased to see her growing and thriving, but it is making for a challenge in the clothing department!
A week ago ILLNESS struck our family. I'll do you all a favor and neglect to provide photographic evidence. There actually is only one picture from that entire week, and it's of Jim's face. He puked so hard he blew several blood vessels in his face. It was NOT a pretty sight. Man, when they say "in sickness and in health" there should be a disclaimer. I jest. Audrey started us off with a surprise projectile vomit all over our dry clean only bedspread. She got sick multiple times that night, but was over the vomitting by 11pm. The next day she was snuggly and had some viscious diarrhea, but was otherwise normal. We thought we were out of the woods...HA! About 48 hours after Audrey got sick, Jim and I started feeling uneasy in the stomach. We called it an early night and went to bed at the same time as the kids to try and sleep it off. What a nice thought. I was up before 9pm, puking my guts out while my doting husband tried his best to ignore me. !!! His turn came at 1am, which was actually kind of convenient considering I was done heaving at that point, so we didn't have to fight over the toilet. Basically someone was throwing up every hour throughout that entire night. When 8am rolled around and we realized how little sleep either of us got, we knew we had to call in reinforcements to help take care of Audrey for the day. Jim convinced his Dad to brave the ring of fire and he drove down immediately to provide some much needed relief. Three days later, we were back on our feet and Jim's dad was out for the count. And Madison, you ask? She was PERFECT...except for Tuesday when she nearly threw up on her teacher's feet.
